A Special Note to Potential Cheerleaders
Hello.  My name is Coach Tomeka Hawkins.  I am the head cheerleading coach at Eisenhower High School.  It was a pleasure to meet all of you at the 8th grade orientation.  I am looking forward to working with you next year.  In preparation for my conditioning and trytouts for the 2014/2015 school year, I have decided to give you some tips that will increase your changes of making the team.  YAY!!
  • Stretch (Stretching helps your flexibility and jumps)
  • Crunches (Helps your voice projection and helps you in core stunts)
  • Practice Motions (Helps you to become knowledgeable of motion placement and tightness when hitting them.)
  • Gymnastics (Try attending some open gyms at 3D or any local gym.  We will attend classes in the summer, but it will be beneficial for you to get a jump start on this.)  I'm proud of you already :)
  • Save your money (The cost to cheer is between $400.00-$600.00 for the entire year.  We have fundraisers that pay for our skills camps and gymnastics classes, but they also help you pay for your cost.  Many of our parents participate in these fundraisers and it really cuts the cost.  I also take payment plans.  :)
  • Watch Cheer Videos (Cheer videos help you familiarize yourself with your sport.  The more you watch other teams, you get to see what my expectations are for you and the team.)
  • Attend our Cheer Camp in February 2014 (Attending my cheer camp will teach you motions, dance, cheer, jumps, and stunting technique. This will be a plus for you for tryouts.  Because I am watching you already and getting your name out there is a good thing.
If you start working on those things you will earn your spot on this awesome program.  The first step to doing this is to email me now at tomeka.hawkins@chsd218.org  Include your name, your parent/guardian name, address, and phone number.  I will contact you with all of the details for the upcoming season.  Go Cardinals!
Competition time has arrived!
Your Cardinal Cheerleaders will be competing this Sunday, 12/15/2013 at Bolingbrook High School 365 Raider Way Bolingbrook, Illinois 60440.  Our JV will compete at 10:55 a.m.  and Our Varsity Coed will compete at 2:15 p.m.  There will be a sign in the stands.  Please sit in the section where the sign will be hanging to assemble a large and Loud Cardinal fan crowd.  The Cardinals need your support as they fight to bring you home a trophy in their regional competitions and qualify for state.  The cardinals will need your undying support for all of their regional competitions but if you cannot make it to them, plan to make it to their sectional competition at Oak Forest High School.  The sectionals is where they can qualify for IHSA state for the very first time in history.  The competiton will be held on Saturday, January 25th.  Doors open at 9am and admission is $5.00.  Let's Go Cardinals!  This is our Year!

The cheerleading program hosted another kids camp, why?  Because you wanted it.  Our parents and campers enjoyed the #TEAMIKE 1 camp so much that you all requested we do another one.  Ask and you shall receive.  The objective is to make sure that our future cardinals grow up at Eisenhower.  We want to make this their home because it soon will be.  Thanks for the support and remember we are always here to help increase the skills of our future cardinal cheerleaders.  I hope you liked the new shirts.  The campers were awesome and they delivered a great performance for our senior night half time.  Go Big Red!
BIG GAME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Come out wearing school colors tomorrow night at the Eisenhower football stadium! Show school spirit and root your cardinals on to victory verses the bulldogs!!!!!!

The Cheerleading Program is hosting a "Beat those Bulldogs" campaign.  In an effort to promote school spirit and let our team know that we believe in them, the Cardinal Cheerleaders will be wearing white tape all week.  The campaign was extended to all students.  We are happy to announce that many of the Eisenhower students have been asking for tape to support the campaign.  The students of Eisenhower believe in their team.  The Varsity Cardinal Cheerleaders will be performing on Friday wearing white tape as a reminder to our Fighting Cardinals that we believe.  Let's Go Cards.  "Let's Beat those Bulldogs!"  Believe as we believe, stay focused, and bring us a victory.

The Game - Ike vs Urban Prep
Congratulations to our fighting Cardinals on their win against Urban prep on Friday.  The final score was 45-22.  Big ups to Coach Moore and the Football Staff who can credit their coaching to every victory.  Way to go coaches.  The Cardinal Varsity Cheerleaders did push ups for every touch down in support of their team.  The audience and Announcer Chuck held them to their push-ups and the cheerleaders rewarded the crowd with t-shirts for every touchdown for the school spirit they displayed at the game.  Awesome job to our students and staff.  Go Cards!
The bird cage was awesome on Friday with their chants and collaboration with the band and cheerleaders.  After hearing the band perform new music the Un-Caged birds were really excited! The bird caged turned up the noise in an effort to show their school spirit.  They really had their heads in the game making it impossible for the other students in the audience not cheer loud along with them.  Awesome job bird cage.  There will be a bird cage meeting at 3:30 in the auxiliary gym to discuss other chants and other fun things we can do at the game on Friday to TURN IT UP!  The un-caged birds will have their tryouts following the meeting at 4.  Remember to wear all black at your tryout and bring your own 8 count with or without music.  Good luck birds.

Great job @ "The bird Cage", We truly need your support and cant do it without you all - Coach Moore!!

Set the tone
On Saturday, Our Fighting Cardinals defeated RichEast 30 to 25 in the rain.  Our Cardinals are back and they are tough.  The Cardinals had to jump in and out of the game due to the weather.  They came back on the field each time ready to fight for the win.  Way to keep your head in the game guys.  Our Cheerleaders were behind them in the rain cheering loud! Awesome win.  Let's do it again on Friday!  Let's Go Cards, EHS!
